Abstract |
Objectives:We investigated the association of rs947267 and rs778294 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on G72/G30
gene with smooth pursuit eye movement (SPEM) abnormality in Korean patients with schizophrenia. Methods:We measured SPEM function in 216 Korean patients with schizophrenia (116 male, 100 female) and divided them into
two groups (high and low), according to SPEM function. We also analyzed rs947267 and rs778294 SNPs on G72/G30 gene from
the same patients. Next, we compared the differences of genotype and allele distributions of rs947267 and rs778294 SNPs on G72/
G30 gene between the groups divided by the SPEM function. Results:The natural logarithm value of signal/noise ratio (Ln S/N ratio) of the good SPEM function group was 4.39±0.33
(mean±s.d.), and that of poor SPEM function group was 3.1±0.71. There were no statistically significant differences in age or
male/female ratio between the two groups. There were no significant differences of genotype or allele distributions of rs947267
and rs778294 SNPs on G72/G30 gene between the two schizophrenia groups. Conclusion:There were no significant differences of genotype or allele distributions of rs947267 and rs778294 SNPs on G72/
G30 gene between high and low SPEM function groups of Korean patients with schizophrenia. (Korean J Schizophr Res 2010;
